Our Family History
Lord Corn Wallis defeated Tippu Sultan in the 3rd Mysore War and captured Bangalore on March 21, 1791. The British killed Tippu Sultan at Srirangapatna in the year 1799 during the 4th War. Victory flag was hoisted in Mangalore at Bavata Gudde.
Queen of Aladangadi, Bantwal Tq, by name Rani Mundyappu was ruling Bantwal region. British started collecting taxes towards administrative expenses. As the queen used to pay taxes to Tippu and draught was prevailing in the region, she could not pay tax to the British. They arrested the Queen and brought her to Gurupur.
The Yajamana of Ammunje was performing Suryanamaskara and he saw the people gathering near the dock. He sent his body guard to check. The guard reported that the queen was arrested by the British. The Yajamana enquired the reason for the arrest. The British replied that she had failed to pay the tax to the Government. He asked for the amount due from the queen. The British informed that she had to pay 1000 Varahas (1000 Gold Coins). The confirmed that he would pay the amount and requested the British to release the queen. He sought their time for two hours. He also mentioned that our custom doesn’t encourage arrest of ladies. We respect and honour our ladies. The Yajamana brought the assured amount within two hours and paid the dues to the British. They released the queen and left.
Over joyed queen requested the Yajamana to give her a boy and a girl, whom she wanted to adopt. She also donated about 700 Muras of paddy field.
Thus adopted children are the founder ancestors of the present Bellore Arasula Parari. This incident must have taken place at around 1800. Over the years the family grew well and prospered by the blessings and support of the royal family.
The family has given importance to education. There have been many highly qualified Doctors, Lawyers, Professionals, Sportsmen and Businessmen. Many youngsters ventured into business and prospered.
Lambu Narayana Shetty was a successful body builder who was trained under Pailwan Lokayya Shetty of Mangalore. He moved to Mumbai and was a union leader in Fire Stone Tyre Factory. He was a well-respected Bunt in Bombay.
The Arasula Parari family house was visited by a rare guest about 50 years ago. An owl came and sat on the roof of the house. This is considered as a bad omen, which indicated the downfall of the family. About 40 years back the family property got entangled in a court case.
Mr. Sadanna Shetty was the last Yajamana. He planted arecanut and coconut plants. He also performed Dharma Nema in the year _____.
His children got good education and they moved out after his death. The house collapsed due to lack of maintenance. The property, agriculture farm was ruined. The annual rituals like Nema, Kola, Agelu, Tambila etc performed to the Daivas and Naga devata was stopped. Thus there was a belief that the Daivas will punish the family members which is known as Dosha.
Due to the legal battle the family was divided and got disintegrated. Disharmony grew among the family members. The joint family structure collapsed.
An area of about 1.17 Acre covered with jungle was sold to a Muslim. One day while he was waking from sleep in the morning he noticed a snake between him and his wife. After the purchase of the said land he had suffered heavy loss in his business. It was later found that the land sold was where the Arasula Parari family moola Naga Bana situated. Hence one more Dosha got befallen on the family.
As a result in one of the family covers husbands of three ladies died one after the other back to back. No one was happy in the entire family and had to face troubles after troubles and calamities after calamities.
Late Mrs. Vinodini Shetty Coimbatore requested Mrs. Usha Shetty, Kateel to find the reason for the curse on the family and do some to mitigate the downfall.
Mrs. Usha Shetty alias Shobha Shetty took the initiative and met Mr. Narayana Sharma Poduval and arranged for the Ashta Mangala Prashne.
In the year 1942 Ashok Shetty was born to Mrs. Nagaveni and Dr. M Ramanna Shetty, Mumbai. Dr. Ramanna was a freedom fighter and awarded by Maharashtra Govt. and founder of Nairs Medical College, Mumbai.
While mother and child were travelling from Kankanady Hospital to Polali, Hosamane of Bellore owned by Lakkanna Poonja; They halted at Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple, to offer prayers (Family Adi Devate). The Yajamana of Ammunje Guthu saw Nagaveni and her mother Laxmi and insisted on them to come to Ammunje Guthu to perform the cradling ceremony of the child, a the child belonged to Ammunje Guthu.
Mere Majalu Family:
It has been narrated by Ashok Shetty that late Mudhyappu’s mother’s sister was adopted by the Mere Majalu family as they had no inheritance.
Thus there cannot be marriage between the families, as they are blood relatives.
Mudhyappu’s Mother’s second sister had a last surviving male child named Thammanna. This lineage or line of the family ends with him.
Puthige Guthu – Moodbidri:
Late Mudhyappu’s father was from Puthige Guthu Family. Mudhyappu’s father bought some land and gifted to Mudhyappu and his brother (Mada Shetty and Aithappa Shetty); This property came to the Parari family.
BARI of Parari family is “SIRIANNA”. Generally in bunt community no marriages are arranged without consulting “BARI”. No marriage was conducted between the same BARI. According to the medical journal of USA, the family route can be traced as back as 32 generations with the genes of a lady.
As proved by the Enthrolpologists and as addressed by the Daivas, the Arasula Parari family surname is Poonja.
According to the hear-say (Dantha Kathe), there was a small Palace at the site of the old Parari house, which extended up to the Naga Bana. The Naga Bana was a thick forest area, with a good habitat of flora and fauna.
