Legacy of Valor and Resilience: The Story of the Bellore Arasula Parari Family
Around the year 1800, Rani Mundyappu, the revered Queen of Aladangadi in Bantwal Taluk, ruled over the Bantwal region with wisdom and courage. During her reign, the British East India Company began enforcing tax collection to support their administrative machinery. However, the region was plagued by a severe drought, and the Queen, who had already been paying tributes to Tipu Sultan, found herself unable to meet the new British tax demands.

Due to this, the British authorities arrested Queen Mundyappu and brought her to Gurupur. At that time, the Yajamana (chieftain) of Ammunje was engaged in his daily Suryanamaskara rituals. Seeing a commotion near the dock, he sent his guard to investigate. Upon learning of the Queen’s arrest, the Yajamana immediately inquired with the British about the reason. The officials informed him that the Queen had defaulted on her tax payment amounting to 1,000 Varahas (gold coins).

Moved by a sense of justice and compassion, the Yajamana offered to pay the due amount and requested that the Queen be released. He asked for two hours to arrange the funds. True to his word, he returned within the stipulated time with the full amount and paid the British. The authorities, honouring their agreement, released the Queen and departed.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Queen Mundyappu expressed her appreciation by adopting a boy and a girl from the local community. Additionally, she donated approximately 700 Muras (traditional measure) of fertile paddy fields. The adopted children would go on to become the founding ancestors of the present-day Bellore Arasula Parari family.

A Flourishing Legacy
Under the patronage and blessings of the royal family, the lineage flourished. Education was held in the highest regard, and the family produced numerous distinguished individuals — doctors, lawyers, professionals, sportsmen, and successful entrepreneurs. The younger generations ventured into new business avenues and brought prosperity and recognition to the family.

Decline and Disintegration
However, about a century ago, misfortune began to shadow the family. The ancestral home, once a proud symbol of their legacy, collapsed due to neglect and lack of maintenance. Agricultural lands fell into disrepair, and the family began to fragment. With the decline of prosperity, even age-old spiritual traditions such as Nema, Kola, Agelu, and Tambila — rituals performed in reverence to the Daivas and Naga Devatas — came to a halt. The spiritual and cultural core of the family began to erode.

Revival Through Faith and Unity
In a determined effort to restore the family’s dignity and unity, Mrs. Usha Shetty, also known as Shobha Shetty, stepped forward. She approached Mr. Narayana Sharma Poduval and together, they organized an Ashta Mangala Prashne — a traditional astrological ritual conducted to diagnose spiritual disturbances and seek divine guidance.
Encouragingly, the family rallied behind the recommendations given during the ritual. With collective effort, the prescribed remedies were implemented. This marked the beginning of a new chapter — one of healing, restoration, and revival.

Today, the family is on a journey of regeneration. Through unity, spiritual reconnection, and shared responsibility, the descendants of the Bellore Arasula Parari lineage are working towards preserving their rich legacy, culture, and heritage for generations to come.
